Note: Inside the package, you can find the Roost RSA 400 Smoke/Fire/CO/Natural Gas Alarm, the Roost Smart Battery, the Quick Connector and the User Manual. First Alert is definitely one of the most experienced American company when it comes with developing safety products has gathered more than 50 years of experience, but, with the rapid development of the IoT products and the emergence of full fledged smart homes which get more and more complex over the years, First Alert had to adapt to the new market and create its own line of smart smoke and CO detectors to rival the popular Nest Protect. This way, it came into existence the First Alert 2 in 1 Smoke Detector and CO Alarm which has some new technologies implemented such as compatibility with Z Wave products. I wouldn’t really call the Nest Protect an elegant device since for me, it looked more like a wireless speaker, but there is no doubt that it did take a step into the right direction when it came to the aesthetic value of smoke detectors. The Onelink took inspiration and adopted a similar design, but the cheaper First Alert 2 in 1 Z Wave remained humble, featuring an octagonal rugged plastic case, lacking the flashy circular LED light, but still being equipped with everything one would expect from a smoke and CO alarm. So, on the front of the device, there is a fairly large Test/Silence Weekly button, a Power/Smoke Alarm LED and a CO Alarm LED light. On the lateral side, towards the front, there is a sliding compartment where you can enter or replace the batteries simple AA. All around the case and on the front, there are lots of cut out areas to allow a proper air ventilation and for the smoke to enter the device and trigger the alarms. If we take into account the backplate, the First Alert 2 in 1 Z Wave is thicker than your average smoke detectors, measuring 5. 0 x 2. 0 x 5.

We had some issues during our nighttime tests – as objects close to the camera were washed out by the LED – but nothing that would be a deal breaker for most home security scenarios. We especially like the simplicity of Nest's mobile app, which makes it relatively easy to set up the camera using a QR code. The Nest app also lets you view videos and control other Nest products, and this model works with more smart home devices than other security cameras, including the August Smart Lock, IFTTT, Philips Hue and Scout Alarm. Nest Cam's audio records well enough for most people, but it wasn't as clear as the Foscam C2 and the Flir FX. Also be aware that you can’t schedule when the camera records. Nest Cam Indoor doesn't require a paid subscription to view live video, get sound alerts and motion alerts. However, you need to pay for Nest Aware subscription to record video, download clips and create time lapse videos. The Nest Cam Indoor's two year warranty is the best in our review. The price makes it an excellent value, especially considering it earned the highest nighttime video score in our tests with excellent range and clarity in total darkness.

The app has custom alerts, though it doesn't let you schedule recording or connect it to a smart home. The Flir FX has both local and cloud storage options. With local storage, you can use a microSD card up 64GB. The Flir FX has a unique feature, called RapidRecap, which edits numerous hours' worth of footage into a short summary. It also has a one year warranty, though Nest and Belkin both offer two year warranties. Read the full reviewExcellent Daytime VideoNetgear Arlo Q$133.
